One of the great things about Classic Albums is when you take an album that you are very familiar with and learn something new about it. This was the case with Simply Red and the Stars album. I always thought that Mick Hucknall had a great voice, and that the songs on the record were very radio friendly. What I hadn’t realised was the subject matter of some of the songs on the record. ‘Wonderland’ the song that is featured in this clip, is a good case in point. I had no idea until I started making the film that the song was Hucknalls comment on Margaret Thatcher, during the time when she was campaigning to give people living in council houses the chance to own their own homes.
